Who You Work With Matters More Than You Think

Who You Work With Matters More Than You Think

Real estate rarely unfolds under perfect conditions.

Markets shift—timing changes. Moves happen because of life — not because everything lined up neatly. And whether you’re buying or selling, the experience you have is shaped far less by circumstances than by who represents you.

That’s the idea behind the short video above.

It’s not really about snow, or pools, or taking a spill and laughing it off. It’s about preparation, follow-through, and knowing how to adapt when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Because the truth is simple:

The right agent makes the difference.

👉 No animals were harmed in the making of this video — only human pride.

What “Referral” Really Means (and What It Should Mean)

When people hear the word referral, they often picture something casual.

A name passed along.

An introduction made.

A quick “you should call this person.”

But a real referral — the kind that actually protects you — works very differently.

A true referral carries responsibility. It means putting your reputation on the line. It means knowing not just who to recommend, but why — and in what situation they’ll shine.

Because the wrong referral doesn’t just slow things down. It creates friction, confusion, and costly missteps — especially when you’re navigating an unfamiliar market.

That’s why I don’t treat referrals as handoffs.

When I help someone buy or sell outside my local market, I’m thinking about fit:

  • Who truly understands this specific market?

  • Who works well with this type of client?

  • Who communicates clearly when things get complicated?

  • Who stays steady when conditions change?

A good referral isn’t about proximity or convenience.

It’s about judgment.

And it doesn’t end with an introduction. I stay involved, check in, and make sure the experience reflects the same level of care and preparation I expect for my own clients.

That’s what a referral should mean — and that’s how I approach everyone.

Why Local Expertise Matters More Than Ever

Many of the people I work with are considering moves that don’t neatly fit into one zip code.

Sometimes it’s a second home.

Sometimes it’s a relocation.

Sometimes it’s selling one property while planning the next chapter somewhere else.

If that next move is outside Southern California — and specifically outside the Palm Springs to La Quinta area — you need more than a name or an online search result. You need a true local expert who understands pricing nuances, neighborhood dynamics, buyer behavior, and how deals actually get done in that market.

Finding that person isn’t easy.

Reviews don’t tell the whole story. And a great agent in one market doesn’t automatically translate to the right agent in another.

How the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Referral Network Works

This is where the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network becomes powerful — and where my role matters.

When someone reaches out to me about buying or selling outside my local market, the process is intentional and personal, not transactional.

Here’s how it typically works:

  • We talk through your goals, timing, and priorities

  • I identify local experts within the BHHS network who specialize in that specific market and property type.

  • You’re introduced and given the opportunity to interview and assess fit.

  • You decide whether the relationship feels right — there’s no pressure.

  • Once aligned, the broader BHHS network supports the local agent behind the scenes to ensure a smooth, coordinated experience.

It’s not about sending you an agent.

It’s about helping you find your agent.

What This Means For You

Representation isn’t interchangeable.

Whether you’re buying or selling here in the desert — or planning a move somewhere else entirely — who you work with matters.

If your plans stay within the Palm Springs area, I’m happy to help locally.

If they take you elsewhere — to another city, state, or country — I can help you find the right agent, not just any agent.

You’ll meet them. You’ll decide if the fit feels right. And you’ll have the strength of a global network standing behind the process.

If you’re thinking about a move — here or elsewhere — reach out. I’ll make sure you’re connected with the right agent and supported every step of the way.
